The name "Amaurotic" comes from the Greek word amaurosis, meaning a dimming or loss of sight without an obvious cause. Our products reflect the idea that people often have a fragile grasp on individuality. We express this through art from different periods, combining past designs with our concepts. The name embodies the idea of losing sight of individuality.

Sustainability
Fashion production comprises 10% of total carbon emissions. Purchasing clothing that consists of high-quality fabrics increases the longevity of your wardrobe while reducing carbon emissions. While sustainability is important, fair wages and labor are of equal importance. The Bureau of International Labor Affairs concluded in a 2022 report that the following countries/areas exploit child labor or forced labor when producing cotton:
Argentina, Azerbaijan, Benin Brazil, Burkina Faso, China, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mali, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Zambia, & India.
Before working with a manufacturer or production company, we thoroughly research each company and ask questions regarding their sustainability and labor practices. This ensures that we work with an ethically sourced company while you receive products made with sustainable resources and fair labor practices.
Organically grown cotton has significantly less impact on carbon emission in contrast to conventionally grown cotton. Organically grown cotton does NOT include nitrous dioxide-releasing fertilizers and pesticides and uses fewer mechanized farming practices. With your continuing support, we strive to source and manufacture all products and accessories locally.
Sourcing
Regular T-shirts are made of 100% Organic USA Cotton and are manufactured in Honduras. Relaxed Hoodies are made of 80% Cotton/20% Polyester Blend sourced and manufactured in Ningbo, China. Regular Shorts are made of 100% Cotton and Tote Bags are made of 100% Canvas Cotton while both are sourced and manufactured in Ningbo, China. All printing and embroidery services are performed locally in the USA. Weaved neck labels are also sourced and manufactured locally in the USA. Envelopes and stickers are sourced and manufactured in China and the USA. All manufacturers used to create our products ensure fair wages and labor for all workers.
The factory in Ningo, China, offers employee benefits such as free on-site meals and contains a workers' committee. It has received certifications such as BSCI, Silver WRAP, and Oeko-Tex. The latest audit was performed in December 2024.
Screen printing and embroidery are used to print and stitch all our products in vivid detail. (Printed in the U.S.A.)
